Scientific Facts

A cloud weighs around a million tons:

They may look light and fluffy, but those big white clouds floating overhead are pretty hefty. A typical cloud has a volume of around 1km3 and a density of around 1.003kg per m3 – means that a typical cloud weighs around a million tons.

Having a density of around 1.003kg per m3 (about 0.4 per cent lower than that of the surrounding air) which is why they float.    “BBC Science Focus”

Stethoscope:

Rene Theophile Hyacinthe Laënnec (1781-1826) was a French physician who, in 1816, invented the stethoscope.  He designed the first monaural instrument for medical auscultation.

The invention became a medical breakthrough. An instrument capable of enhancing the subtle sounds created by the human heart and lungs.   The next step forward was the development of the binaural stethoscope by G.P. Camman in New York.  He developed the first commercially available binaural stethoscope in 1852.

It wasn’t until the early 1960s that Dr. David Littmann patented a revolutionary new stethoscope with vastly improved acoustical performance. The Littmann Electronic Stethoscope created by David Littmann is considered the leading product globally in this medical field.    “National Institute of Health”
