During the exhibition, we were honoured to welcome Dr. Mohamed Shaker (Former Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy and Professor of Electrical Power Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering, Cairo University) who expressed his admiration for our electromechanical products on display.

2- The Biotechnology Division (in collaboration with MERCK) organized a scientific seminar titled “Innovations in Molecular Biology & Cell Culture Advancing F&B Quality Control in a Regulated World” on 19 May 2025 at Fairmont Nile City Hotel. The event drew a distinguished audience of industry leaders, researchers, and scientists, united by a shared interest in the latest advancements in Food and Beverage quality control. Participants demonstrated strong engagement with the innovative technologies showcased and emphasized the importance of continuing such impactful knowledge-sharing platforms. Widely praised for its seamless organization, the seminar received high commendation for the depth and relevance of its content, with attendees highlighting the exceptional quality of the presentations and the overall value delivered.

Celebration
20 May – World Autoimmune Arthritis Day
World Autoimmune Arthritis Day, observed on May 20, was established by the International Autoimmune Arthritis Movement (I.A.A.M.) to illuminate the challenges posed by autoimmune and autoinflammatory diseases that present with arthritis.
This year’s compelling theme, “It’s in Your Hands, Take Action,” underscores the urgent need to raise awareness about rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases (RMDs). The initiative aims to empower individuals with RMDs, along with their caregivers and families, to actively engage in efforts that enhance the quality of life for those affected. Together, we can seize every opportunity to make a meaningful impact.

Product Of The Month
DMI Dehydrator
(Egg Waste Dehydration System)
Description
– DMI dehydrator processes the waste on site, directly connected from the harvesting area, without necessary intermediary storage.
– The system is composed of a dehydration tank with a horizontal mixing shaft.
– Three loading inlets located on the top of the tank allow an easy loading of the Egg Waste following the flow generated by the harvesters.
– The loading is controlled by the system automatism which does or doesn’t authorize the filling operation, depending on the type of loading cycle selected at the beginning of the harvesting campaign.
– The product level in the dehydrator is controlled by a level sensor based on radar technology and eventually by calculation of the quantity of Egg Waste transferred to the dehydrator by using a flow meter or impulses given by the harvesters or by the transfer station.

Egypt and Japan partner on blood bag plant in SCZone
- Egypt has signed a major agreement with Japan to establish a blood bag manufacturing facility in the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone), signalling a strategic leap toward medical self-sufficiency and regional export leadership. The signing ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and other senior officials.
- The plant, which will be located in Ain Sokhna’s SCZone, is designed to produce seven million blood pouches annually by its seventh year of operation. Of that output, three million units will serve domestic needs, while four million are intended for export, primarily to Middle Eastern and North African markets.
- According to Egypt’s Unified Procurement Authority (UPA), the facility will fully cover the country’s annual demand for blood bags—essential tools used in surgeries, trauma care, cancer treatments, and chronic illness management. The plant is also expected to become a key contributor to Egypt’s medical exports and a new source of foreign currency revenue.

History of Science
- Magnifying glass
Evidence suggests that as early as 700 B.C., people in ancient Egypt noticed that they could look through crystals to improve vision. - The first real appreciation of the action of a lens, in particular the ability of a convex form to produce a magnified image of an object, appears to be credited to Ibn al-Haytham. It was not until the late 13th century that spectacles were invented, representing the first practical use of magnification in society.
- Oxford University scholar Roger Bacon developed the first magnifying glass in 1268. He developed the first magnifier constructed for scientific purposes.
