Taco Bladder Expansion Tanks (CBX Series)

  • Taco CBX Expansion Tanks accommodate expanding system water inside a seamless bladder, compressing the air charge on the shell side to help control pressure. The partial-acceptance design provides a defined water acceptance capacity for each model.
  • The tanks feature a fabricated steel shell and a heavy-duty butyl bladder removable for inspection and replacement. Available in capacities from 15 to 800 litres, they are suitable for vertical installation only and must not be used with potable water.
  • Models: CBX15–CBX800.
  • Tank volume: 15–800 litres (4–212 US gallons).
  • Maximum bladder acceptance volume: Approximately 9.2–231 litres (2.5–61 US gallons), depending on model.
  • Shell: Fabricated steel, designed and constructed to ASME Section VIII, Division 1.
  • Bladder: Seamless, heavy-duty butyl rubber; removable and replaceable.
  • Standard working pressure: 125 psig (8.6 bar).
  • Optional working pressure: 150 psig (10.3 bar).
  • Maximum operating temperature: 240°F (116°C).
  • Air–water separation: Water contained inside the bladder; air precharge on the shell side.
  • Installation: Vertical only.
  • Lifting rings: Provided except on CBX15, CBX30 and CBX42.
  • Service restriction: Non-potable water only.
  • Helps control pressure changes caused by thermal expansion.
  • Prevents waterlogging associated with direct air–water contact.
  • Separates system water from the steel shell, helping reduce internal corrosion.
  • Replaceable bladder simplifies maintenance and extends tank serviceability.
  • Multiple capacities allow selection to suit system expansion requirements.
  • Hydronic system thermal expansion control.
  • Non-potable hydropneumatic systems.
  • Non-potable drawdown applications.
  • ASME: Designed and constructed in accordance with Section VIII, Division 1.
