Taco Air & Dirt Separators (4900 Series)

  • Taco 4900 Series Separators collect and combine microbubbles into larger bubbles for discharge through an integral air vent. Suspended dirt settles at the bottom of the vessel for removal through a blowdown valve.
  • The range includes air-only and combined air/dirt models in standard and high-velocity configurations. Optional removable covers provide access to the PALL Ring basket, while a switchable neodymium magnet captures magnetite and other ferrous particles.
  • Models: 4900-A for air removal; 4900-AD for combined air and dirt removal; high-velocity versions available.
  • Connection sizes: 2"–36", depending on model.
  • Connections: Flanged; threaded options on selected smaller models and optional grooved connections up to 2½".
  • Body: Carbon steel with exterior red oxide primer.
  • Internals: 304 stainless steel PALL Rings and inlet/outlet screens.
  • Separation capability: Microbubbles as small as 18 microns; dirt particles as small as 5 microns.
  • Pressure drop: 2 psi or less at the manufacturer’s specified optimal flow rates.
  • Design ratings: 125 or 150 psi at 240°F (approximately 8.6 or 10.3 bar at 116°C), depending on model; higher ratings available.
  • Fluid compatibility: Water and water/glycol mixtures up to 50% glycol.
  • Accessories: Integral air vent and flushing valve; full-port blowdown valve on air/dirt models.
  • Options: Switchable neodymium magnet, removable cover, base ring and custom connection sizes.
  • Documentation access: eLink NFC tags provide access to product documentation.
  • Helps maintain heat transfer and system efficiency by removing air and dirt.
  • Helps reduce air locking, corrosion, pump damage and operating noise.
  • Low pressure loss helps limit pumping energy requirements.
  • Optional magnetic separation protects components from magnetite accumulation.
  • Blowdown valve and optional removable cover simplify cleaning and maintenance.
  • Helps extend the service life of pumps, piping and system components.
  • Hydronic hot water heating systems.
  • Chilled water and closed cooling systems.
  • Boiler and chiller circuits requiring air or air/dirt removal.
  • Water/glycol hydronic systems.
  • ASME: Section VIII, Division 1 design and construction.
  • National Board: Pressure vessel registration.
  • ISO 9001: Manufacturer’s quality management certification mark shown in the datasheet.
  • Independent performance testing: Delft Hydraulics air and particle separation reports.
