Taco Full-Acceptance Bladder Expansion Tanks (CA Series)

  • Taco CA Expansion Tanks help control system pressure by accepting expanding water into a flexible bladder while compressing the surrounding air charge. Permanent air–water separation prevents waterlogging and isolates system water from the steel shell.
  • The full-acceptance bladder can expand to the tank’s full volume and is removable for inspection or replacement. Multiple capacities and pressure ratings are available, with an optional NSF-certified version for potable water service.
  • Capacity: 90–10,000 litres (23–2,640 US gallons) in the supplied datasheet.
  • Shell: Fabricated steel, designed and constructed to ASME Section VIII, Division 1.
  • Bladder: Heavy-duty butyl rubber; full-acceptance, field-removable and replaceable.
  • Standard working pressure: 125 psig (approximately 8.6 bar).
  • Optional working pressures: 150, 175, 250 or 300 psig (approximately 10.3, 12.1, 17.2 or 20.7 bar).
  • Operating temperature: Up to 240°F (116°C); other requirements subject to factory consultation.
  • System connections: 1", 1½", 2" or 3" NPT, depending on model.
  • Air charge: Adjustable through an air-charging fitting to suit system fill pressure.
  • Potable water option: NSF/ANSI 61-G version, identified by the “P” model suffix.
  • Helps maintain system pressure as water temperature changes.
  • Prevents waterlogging by separating air from system water.
  • Protects the steel shell from corrosion caused by contact with system water.
  • Full-acceptance design reduces bladder overstretching risk.
  • Replaceable bladder simplifies maintenance and avoids replacing the complete tank.
  • Can reduce required tank size by up to 80% compared with conventional plain steel air-cushion tanks, subject to sizing conditions.
  • Closed hydronic heating systems.
  • Chilled water systems.
  • Boiler and chiller circuits requiring thermal expansion control.
  • Potable water heating systems with the optional NSF-certified model, installed on the cold water side of the heater.
  • ASME: Section VIII, Division 1 design, testing and stamping.
  • National Board: Registration; National Board Form U-1 referenced.
  • NSF/ANSI 61-G: Optional certification for “P” suffix models, as stated in the supplied datasheet.
  • ISO 9001: Manufacturer’s quality management certification mark shown.
